Deep Sea Creatures 🐠

Hi, this post is about deep sea creatures.

Thank the new blue planet II on Sky or BBC iPlayer for the info!

Here are some marine animals you can learn about:

First, the barreleye. This fishes head is full of jelly so it can look up through it’s skull!

As you can see, there are two bright green eyes that point upwards too spot it’s prey. They are normally found in the midnight zone of the sea so it is hard to see then without light.

Second, the cockeyed squid. This squid had one eye pointing down, but one green eye pointing up.

The mid ocean ridge is a volcano range in the middle of the worlds oceans.

The volcanos all together are 40,390 miles long.

They are completely under the sea but are destroying the ocean. From time to time, the volcanos erupt and rip apart the life underwater.

Exiting news from blue planet II!

The blue planet II team have recently discovered that a fish live at the bottom of the Mariana Trench! This means that this snailfish can live through extreme amounts of pressure so high that it is the ONLY type of fish down there! Knowing that a fish can live under that amount of pressure, they have assumed life could be found on Saturn and Jupiter!

Help your birds!

Welcome to or welcome back to Bella’s World today we’re going to help the beautiful birds. At the moment (for me at least) it’s winter it’s becoming increasingly hard for the birds to hunt. Most of the berries are gone and the ground is extremely hard so it’s harder to stick their beak in. So what could you do?

Photo by Andy Bear Grills Barker on Pexels.com

If you have a bird feeder, that’s perfect! If not you glue down a plastic bottle with holes in to a pole, you’ll have one. Filling them bird seed is great. However clean them weekly and wear gloves. When you don’t clean them regularly seed building at the bottom at it rots and moulds. The birds must build up fat so they can have some energy. Please take down your feeder when the spring arrives and the ground is relatively soft. If you don’t the birds will become too dependent on the feeder. They’ll lose their hunting instincts and skills.

I remember seeing a Coal Tit at our feeder for the first time, so magical. Our birds need us and help them now you know. Thanks for reading, share your thoughts, tips and tricks and ideas in the comments below! Please like and follow Bella’s World.

What’s so bad about Palm Oil?

Photo by Pok Rie on Pexels.com

Welcome to or welcome back to Bella’s World today we’re talking about Palm Oil and why is so bad. Palm oil is made from the sap of fruit trees. People lay unaware how many products contain it. But this still leaves one big, burning question, why is it so bad?

The production of palm oil destroys homes for our precious wildlife and plants. If you were an orang-utan you wouldn’t like these big saws and tall flames annihilating your home. They often die and sometimes with their babies or in other situations they are orphaned. Sometimes separated for life. This doesn’t just happen with orang-utans it happens with plenty of other animals. It’s truly heartbreaking how this happens every minute. People just sit there careless of how species of being ruthlessly murdered and do nothing.

Thank you for reading today and educating yourself. If you’re still curious click on this link https://www.wwf.org.uk/updates/8-things-know-about-palm-oil. It goes into further detail about its uses how it’s even in everything from lipstick to bread! Stay tuned for more information and share your palm oil facts in the comments below!

Tasmanian Tigers 🐾

Did you know, there is such thing called a Tasmanian tiger. These creatures are marsupial kangaroos that many people mistook as a wild dog. Tasmanian tigers are now extinct because of a long period of bounty hunting systems. This particular marsupial has been extinct for 88 years now and the reason why I am writing about these is because if we don’t bring them back to life, lots of other animals could die. The Tasmanian devil, a relative of quolls, were food for the Tasmanian tigers, but now, since the are dead, the devils are getting lots of diseases, such as cancer. If the tigers were still alive, then they would be able to stop the devils from passing cancer to others by eating them. Now that the tigers are not alive, the devils can pass along plenty of diseases. This is the reason scientist are trying to bring them back to life. The team say the tigers can be recreated using stem cells and gene-editing technology, and they could be alive in 10yr’s time.

Stick Art

Photo by Maria Ilaria Piras on Pexels.com

Have you ever thrown out any sticks that you find in your garden, well there’s no need for that anyone more because they can be a great source of art. In this article find out different ways to use sticks as art.

Firstly, sticks can be used to build outdoor dens that can be fun to play and explore in. Here’s how to create your own den…

  1. Gather sticks from your garden.

  3. Lean some of your largest sticks against the tree.
  4. Add your smaller sticks on top of your existing structure.
  5. Decorate how you wish and show to family and friends

Secondly, sticks can be used to create stick people. Try to create yourself or someone you know out of sticks.

  1. Find a photo of the person you want to create
  2. Gather sticks from your garden
  3. Begin to create your stick person
  4. Show to the person that you were trying to create and watch there reaction to their stick person look-a-like.

An Amazing Visitor

Welcome to or welcome back to Bella’s World, today we’re celebrating the magpies! Today I went downstairs to watch the birds. I duck behind the kitchen counter to see a magpie on the outdoor table. It started to call to the others. It looked panicked as it couldn’t figure out how to get down from the table. It called to its friends again. It then realised how to get away. Not down but it needs to go upwards. It then begins to fly up to my roof. I then hear it call to its friends now all together on the roof. We can learn a lot from the experience and perseverance of the magpie. If we were all a little more like the magpie we could learn and be more resilient. We could have a much more kind, strong and resilient society if we learnt from magpie.

Thank you for reading and learning from this wonderful creature. Always remember when your in a difficult situation be like magpie. Please be resilient, smart and strong. Keep learning and like for more intelligent and virtuous animals.

Sir David Attenborough

Hi, my name is Coral and I would like to share a few facts about Sir David Attenborough. Sir David is an extreme explorer who has published many books, TV shows, and more! David has experienced a lot in his long life that I would love to share in a biography form. Enjoy!

Early life

Sir David Attenborough was born on the 8th May 1926, meaning that he is 97 at the moment. When growing up, he had two adopted Jewish refugee sisters and had one brother. Richard Attenborough later became a famous actor you might know the name of. David was raised at Leicester, on the campus of its University college. David’s dad was the head master of that Uni. Only at 11 years old, David struck a deal with the Uni selling newts! The newts came from a pond near the zoology department. Sir David Attenborough had never considered himself as an animal lover, but has been fascinated by them.

Achievements

Sir David Attenborough has achieved lots of things in his life. Sir David Attenborough is the only person to have won the BAFTAs for his programmes in colour, black and white, HD, and 3D. In 1947, he spent two years serving in the royal army. Did you know, when Sir David Attenborough got his first job in TV, he didn’t even own a TV!? His first programme was about the coelacanth. Sir David Attenborough revived a knighthood in 1985. Did you know, David hasat least 10 plants and animals named after him?!

Challenges faced

Sir David has faced many challenges in his life. Sir David had been rejected for his first job he had ever applied for in the BBC. Sir David had never passed his driving test, as so for that, he cannot drive. Not driving is hard when you are an extreme traveller. In 1950, Sir David married Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel. They together had two children but sadly, Jane died in 1997. The only animal Sir David doesn’t like are rats!

Quotes

These are some exciting quotes from David Attenborough:

It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”

“An understanding of the natural world is a source of not only great curiosity, but great fulfilment.

It’s surely our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth.”

“Young people – they care. They know that this is the world that they’re going to grow up in, that they’re going to spend the rest of their lives in. But, I think it’s more idealistic than that. They actually believe that humanity, human species, has no right to destroy and despoil regardless.”

Plant Perfection: The Science

Welcome to or welcome back to Bella’s World today we’re talking about plant perfection. Plants are beautiful living creatures with a diverse array of sizes, colours and shapes. Often plants are overlooked by animals because of their link. They have a few key ways of survival water, sunlight and nutrients from the area. Let’s dive into it!

Photo by fu zhichao on Pexels.com

Plants have many different parts. Each part plays a different and distinct role in helping the plant to thrive. The leaf is incredibly important to the plant because of how it absorbs water a key component to the plant’s survival. The petals help to attract bees which carries the pollen from plant to plant helping reproduce. The stem makes the plant stay upright. This makes sure the rest of the plant stays healthy and not on the floor. The roots let nutrients flow through the plant and keeps the plant growing.

I hope you had fun learning about plants. If you you’d like to learn more about plants like and comment below. Learning about plants is important to let us know how to care for our environment. We hope to see you back at Bella’s World.

Vaquita

The vaquita, a type of porpoise, is the most endangered animal on earth. They live in the gulf of California, also known as the seas of Mexico. The reason why they are so endangered, is because vaquitas are the smallest of sea mammals excluding otters, seals, walruses, and sea lions. Vaquitas are 5feet long and 46kg meaning they will get caught in nets easily. If they get caught in nets, they will either drown, get captured, or the will get stranded. Not many people know of the vaquita as there are only 10 left in the world, but we need to stop nets from getting lose in the sea. It’s not only vaquitas who get caught in them, its also thousands of other animals too. Dolphins, turtles, whales, and even fish face the same problem as these innocent vaquitas. All animals deserve a chance in there lives but they can’t do anything about it, we can. Its up to us to give them a chance. We need to find a way to stop this madness. So get working by making posters and even more!!!

Should we think more about plants?

Plants, an key part of our environment, are often forgotten because of there seemingly simple nature. Crucial to animal existence, without plants, life on earth would be impossible. Many think of the environment as saving animals, stopping poaching and protecting areas of wildlife these are all important targets, but plants just seem to get lost somewhere in between. So do you think we should pay more attention to the well-being of our plants? Here are some important points on why plants should be mentioned more…

Firstly, plants provide over 80% of the food we eat and without them the human population and the earth’s range of animals would die out. Additionally plants create their food by them selves so looking after plants is easy, if you give them the right amount of water and sunlight.

Secondly, plants can be calming and are often used in medicine (find out more about how nature heals here: Nature Heals). In addition to this, many people enjoy having plants and flowers around the house as it can brighten a space without taking up much room.

Finally, trees and rainforests produce 28% of the earth’s oxygen whereas the other 72% is create by plants that are found in the ocean. Furthermore, altogether trees, plants and other greenery produce 100% of the world’s oxygen, meaning that humans could not survive on earth without them.

As you can see plants are very important to humans health and future and well as being a crucial part of our eco-system. Here are some fun facts to get you thinking more about plants…

  • Around 50% of the world’s oxygen is created by a species of tiny plant in the ocean called phytoplankton alone.
  • Plants contain both male and female parts which help with pollination.
  • Some plants (like the Venus Flytrap) can catch and eat bugs.
