Ring-Tailed Lemurs

Ring-Tailed Lemurs are found in Madagascar. Wild Ring-Tailed Lemurs are listed as endangered on the IUCN’s red list. The ring-tailed lemur is usually the size of a house cat and they are usually 3–3.5 kg. When in the wild, they live for around 20 years. They are very adaptable animals and can be found in many different sorts of habitats such as dry forests and tropical jungles. Ring-Tailed Lemurs mostly eat fruit, leaves, and insects. Ring-Tailed Lemurs’ main predator is a Fossa, a relative of a mongoose. Mostly, females give one birth per season but can go up to six. They are usually very social and live in groups called troops and they can have from 6 to 30 Ring-Tailed Lemurs in a troop. A dominant female usually leads the troop.

They are nocturnal animals so they have large eyes to see in the dark. Ring-Tailed Lemurs usually stay on the ground and are known to use their tails for communication! If one of them holds their tail up it means there is danger. They also mark their territory using scratches on trees, as well as by scent marking the area. Habitat loss is a big problem as some people illegally deforest their habitat. Young are called pups and usually cling to the mother for the first few weeks in life. They typically live 16-19 years in the wild. Lemurs can travel up to 12 miles an hour!

Travel Back In Time

Hi, I’m Skye and I am head of history at Bella’s World. Almost all of the animals we cover at Bella’s World have been evolved by other animals hundreds of years ago, those animals are now extinct, but have evolved to animals from our era!

Diversification of large, flightless birds. Earliest true primates along with the first semelid bivalves, esdentate, carnivoran and lipotyphlan mammals, and owl. The ansecstorts of the caivorous mammals were once alive. Come and join me on an adventure through time…..

Animal poem

Hi, here at Bella’s World many of us like to create poetry and we think poetry can help spread a message so I decided to create this…

Parrots fly high in the sky,

Turtles swim below.

Lizards scutter along the grass,

Dolphins jump high and low.

Elephants stampede,

We need to save the planet.

Or nature will be gone,

A little change is big,

So make some posters.

Giraffes

Giraffes are one of the tallest mammals, and a newborn giraffe is about 6 feet (1.9 meters) tall and weighs around 150 pounds (68 kilograms). The giraffes’ height and impressive ability to see gives them a good view of the grasslands where they live, which makes it easier to see predators from a distance. Once a giraffe is an adult it’s height is enough to protect it from lions. Adult giraffes have to be careful of lions when they are bending down to drink water or rest.

Giraffes eat leaves or buds from trees and mostly live in grasslands. There are only roughly 8,660 left and they are considered endangered. There are only four different types of giraffes left. These four types are the Northern Giraffe, Reticulated Giraffe, Southern Giraffe and the Masai Giraffe. The Giraffe is usually white in colour with brown or reddish markings that cover its body. The Giraffe has multiple stomachs, it will eat around 75 pounds (34.0194 kg) of leaves daily! Giraffes only sleep one or two hours per day and they have adapted so they can have naps that give them a lot of energy while standing up!

Pigs

Pigs are often seen as dirty animals because of their habit to roll in mud but actually they are quite clean! They only roll in mud because they need to cool off. Pigs are also known as hogs. Male pigs of any age are called boars and female pigs are called sows. Pigs can be found all over the world, and provide useful things to humans fertilizer and even some medicines.

Wild pigs eat things like roots and leaves while pigs on farms eat things like corn, but in Europe, they also eat barley. Female pigs give birth to young called piglets. They usually take care of the piglets for 3 to 5 weeks. Piglets can weigh roughly 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms) as a new-born, and as adults, they weigh roughly between 300 and 700 pounds (140 and 300 kilograms). Pigs do not have the best eyesight, but they have a good sense of smell. Pigs’ nostrils are on their snout, which is very sensitive. The pig uses the snout to search for food.

This is my poem on rainforests I hope you like it

Rainforest full of trees,

Where animals are free.

Explosion of new life,

Filled with wildlife.

Listen to the canopy sing,

Look at the macaw’s beautiful wing.

Jaguar on the prowl,

With the intelligence of on owl.

Fruits of great variety,

Let’s explore this one of a kind society.

Protect our tropical forests.

Climate change effected animal species: Polar bears

Climate change is destroying our planet, our environment and our home. Humans have been ignoring this – made catastrophe and now it’s spiralling out of control. Many of our glorious creatures are perishing and becoming extinct, today I am here to raise awareness.

Polar bears

Polar bears need ice to navigate the Arctic and find food but 240 billion tons of ice melted in 2022. If we don’t start acting Polar bears will be extinct by our ignorance. Without Polar bears some species will die as they may eat Polar bear cubs. Let’s keep our 27000 Polar bears safe!
